This page contains links to sheet music publications that are freely available online. The collection includes both digitized printed editions and manuscripts, as well as materials originally created for the web in various file formats. Some sheet music may require a browser plugin, such as Scorch, to view.

IMSLP – Petrucci Music Library

IMSLP is a freely accessible online collection of classical music sheet music compiled from various sources. The service includes over 200,000 compositions by more than 26,000 composers. When using the service, it's important to note that some content may still be under copyright in Finland, as the copyright term in Canada (where the service is based) is only 50 years. In Finland, the term is 70 years.

Musopen

The Musopen website offers over 100,000 freely usable, copyright-free sheet music publications. The content can be browsed by composer, instrument, era, or genre.

Mutopia

The Mutopia Project provides classical music sheet music for free use. The sheet music is either in the public domain or licensed under a Creative Commons licensing. The scores are available in PDF format.

Other Online Sheet Music Collections

The University of Helsinki Library's guide to music research includes a list of freely available online sheet music collections. Here you can find links to, for example, complete editions of composers (Bach, Mozart), 18th-century symphonies, liturgical music, folk music, and early popular music. The guide is in English.
